Even though the 2010 season hasn’t started, Randy Monroe is wasting no time preparing for the 2011 season as he picked up his first commitment of next year.
St. Patrick High School senior Jarrel Lane verbally committed to UMBC yesterday, saying, “I committed there because it’s a very good academic school. When I went on my unofficial visit, I really felt comfortable with Coach Monroe and his staff.”
Lane, a 5’11″ combo-guard, played as a reserve on St. Patrick HS last year with current freshman Chase Plummer. Though he is not expected to start this year either, St. Patrick HS is usually ranked in the top 10 in the nation and loaded with talent that goes to schools like Duke, Connecticut, Syracuse, etc.
“The team made me feel right at home,” he said. “I also met with the president of the school and we spoke about life issues.”
