Baseball Gets Key Win Over Albany

In a key series with University at Albany the UMBC baseball team set themselves up for success with a win one day on. If UMBC can find a way to win both on day two they would jump UAlbany in the standings but as long as they tie the series the will be in contention for the final spot.

Game 1: UMBC 3, Albany 1

Ed Bach gave up just one run off five hits in seven innings as the team got a key game one victory over the Great Danes.

Helping out Bach’s performance were Max Himmelstein, who went 2-for-3 and hit a three run home run in the first inning to get UMBC the lead.

Albany got a quick first inning lead from Nolan Gaige in the first inning but UMBC struck back and held on for the victory.

Game 2:Albany 9, UMBC 5

UMBC could not keep the pitching going as they staff gave up nine runs in game two and went through six pitchers against UAlbany. Himmelstein went 2-for-5 with one RBI while Brian Klukowicz went
