Women’s Lacrosse Dominated Binghamton, Clinch First AEC Tournament Berth Since 2006


Freshman Lindsay Cox scored four straight goals in the team’s 19-9 win over Binghamton.

In a must win situation to get into the America East Conference Tournament the women’s lacrosse team started slow, very slow, falling behind by five goals in just 11 minutes, But from them on UMBC just dominated the game, outscoring Binghamton 19-4 the rest of the game, and 14-2 in the second half.

The start the second half freshman Lindsay Cox scored four straight goals to get UMBC the lead, which they never dropped.

Ashley Stodter also scored four goals while Erika Braerman and Bria Phillips each had three goals. Alicia Krause and Amanda Pappas scored two each while Emily Coady added a final goal.

With the victory the Retrievers clinched a berth in the AEC tournament for the first time since 2006. The team also won their 10th game of the season for the first time since 2006 while their 10-6 record through 16 games is their best since 2002.

UMBC will play top-seeded Albany on May 6 to open the four team tournament.
