Baseball Drops Game 3 Against Binghamton, 17-7

With University of Vermont having dropped their baseball the America East Conference has split baseball into two division. Unfortunately for UMBC the two teams that join them are Stony Brook University and Binghamton University, the two top teams in the conference. With the new set up the teams play two three game series, one home and one away.

The team’s first series against BU were originally scheduled to be played at UMBC Baseball Factory Field but due to a weather forecast calling for rain in Baltimore this weekend the series was moved to Binghamton, and UMBC struggled in all three games as they were outscored 47-13 in three games.

In game three of the series Ed Bach started on the mound, but gave up 11 runs, 10 earned, off 10 hits in 3.1 innings. His relief man Austin Drewyer did not have much success either as he gave up six runs off eight hits in 4 innings.

UMBC trailed 14-1 before the eighth inning but were able to get six runs in the eighth inning.

UMBC started the inning with four straight walks before Brian Klukowicz hit an RBI single to left field. After a wild pitch Casey Mediary scored to get a fourth UMBC run. After a Michael Pesci single Mike Lafferty scored for a fifth inning in the inning while Curtis Schickner was later walked for another RBI as Rich Conlon scored, but UMBC could got get another run as they fell, 17-7.
