Maxx Davis recorded his first career hat trick to lift UMBC to their third straight win.
With 1:27 remaining in the first overtime period senior midfielder Maxx Davis ripped an unassisted shot in the goal to give the men’s lacrosse team their third straight victory and fourth of the season.
After falling behind early and failing to get a goal for the majority of the first quarter it was Davis who would get UMBC on the board with just over two minutes left in the first half. But it did not take long for UMBC got score after that as Rob Grimm took a pass from Rich May for a goal.
But University of Vermont did not back down as Drew Philie scored his second and third goals to get the Catamounts the lead back.
After falling behind by one with less than eight minutes remaining in the game after Philie scored his fourth goal of the game Kyle Wimer scored his second goal of the game to tie it up with just two minutes remaining, which would last until Davis ripped in his overtime goal.
Wimer extended his scoring streak to 30 straight games.
