Women’s Tennis Sweeps Towson, 7-0

The women’s tennis team bounced back from a 5-1 loss to Stony Brook with a shutout of Towson to get their seventh win in eight games to improve to 11-5 this season.
Alice Chen was able to beat Aandria Carr in the first position 6-0, 6-4 while Carmen Jackman made easy work of Lauren Cloonan, 6-1, 6-3.
Lorena Valente had to go in an extra game with Andrea Samlin in their first set but she was able to get the victory, 7-5, 6-2.
Emily Manniz played out of the fourth position and was able to beat Caitlin White, 6-1, 6-0.
Heidi Danielsson lost just one game to Katie Young as she got the 6-1, 6-0 victory.
The final singles player for UMBC was Barbara Couto, who to the 6-1, 6-3 victory over Beth Daub.
In doubles competition UMBC got the sweep for the seventh point as Chen and Danielsson beat Cloonan and Samlin, 8-5, Jackman and Mannix beat Daub and Carr, 8-4, and Valente and Couto beat Young and Cassandra Ng, 8-0.
