Gilreath and Colbert Win Gold In Outdoor Opener

The men’s and women’s track and field teams started their 2010 outdoor seasons at the Maryland Invitational on Saturday and came home with two golds and 11 total medals.
Men’s Track and Field
Senior Victor Gilreath finished first in the men’s triple jump with a mark of 14.42-meters while also earning silver in the high jump with a mark of 1.93-meters.
Brian Pendleton also won two silver medals as he places second in the triple jump with a mark of 14.08-meters and long jump with a mark of 6.70-meters.
Sophomore Roy Jones came up just short of a medal as he finished fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:58.39.
Women’s Track and Field
Sophomore Imani Colbert may be the most dominate hurdler UMBC has ever had as she continues to win the event. She won the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 15.02 while Fallon Rovel-Jones finished third in 15.60.
The 4×100-meter relay team of Ashley Ajayi, Tawana Wilson, Colbert, and Britney Foreman finished second in 48.20. Foreman also won a bronze in the 100-meter dash in 12.30, an ECAC-qualifying time.
In the field Jasmine Batchelor and Chowan Brightful tied for third in the high jump with marks of 1.52-meters. Kiki Malomo-Paris finished thirs in the long jump with a mark of 5.64-meters.
