The All My Kind Of Guy Team

This has got to be my favorite post and it’s back for year two. These are my five favorite player to watch in the America East, they may not be the best scorers, rebounder, passers, or defenders, but there is something about the way they play that I love. Also, I limited myself to just one UMBC player again, or it would just be UMBC’s team.

Matt Spadafora, G, UMBC
He may have been a little disappointing on the offensive end of the floor but the guy was scrappy. He would put some gaudy numbers up on a couple teams but as the lone senior on a team that was going through some serious growing pains I have to give him his credit. He would fight for rebounds, he was always defending the opposing team’s top scorer, and he would always be the first player back on defense.

Alvin Abreu, G, New Hampshire
This guy was just a monster and had arms bigger than my thighs and wasn’t afraid to use that muscle to get inside. He could shoot the ball very well but was a scrappy defender and was a big reason New Hampshire had one of the top defenses in the conference.

Joe Zeglinski, G, Hartford
No player may have meant more to his team than Joe Zeglinski for Hartford. He did not have the help inside needed to get many wins but the guy put his team on his back every game and did everything he could do to get a win. As the heart and soul of the Hawks he has become the most played player in America East history.

Muhammad El-Amin, G, Stony Brook
I will stand by this statement forever: Muhammad El-Amin was the best offensive scorer in the America East the last two seasons. The guy just made it look easy and could shoot the lights out of the ball no matter where he was. He was a slasher but was not afraid to raise up for a shot. There was no reason he should have been playing in the America East, it just looked so natural for him and he was dominate because of it.

Evan Fjeld, F, Vermont
My feeling for Vermont are being put aside for this pick. Evan Fjeld was simply one of the best defender’s I’ve seen in this conference. He made a block so great that even Chauncey Gilliam has to give him a high five. He was just all over the floor and attacked the rim like nobody else. On a more serious note, the guy may be the toughest player in the conference for what he did in the America East Conference Championship game. The man lost his mother to a battle with cancer just before the game but still played in the game and was a big reason they wound up winning.

Great post! El-Amin is such a great shooter, it’s hard to watch him play and not cheer for him because he’s not playing for your team.
And the last sentence of your first paragraph made me say “awwwwwww”
