Men’s Tennis Sweeps Week Of Competition

The men’s tennis team opened their week of competition with a complete sweep of conference foe Hartford. They then proceeded to Beat Connecticut, 5-1, and another conference foe, Boston U, 6-1.

Against the Hawks Chris Meyer beat Josh Isaacson, 6-0, 6-2. He also teamed with Mwali Phiri in doubles competition for an 8-1 win over Marco Neves and Aneil Bhalla.

Fredi Voorman bear Neves 6-1, 6-0 and teamed with Allen Tsang in doubles competition to beat Isaacson and Eric Floum, 8-4.

Adam Duprat defeated Bhalla, 6-1, 6-1 while Gaulthier Berret bear Floum, 6-0, 6-1. Berrett and Logan Bricker defeated Edgardo Ureta and Aaron Kooden in doubles competiton, 8-0.

Phiri defeated Ureta, 6-0, 6-0 and Joseph Adewumi beat Kooden, 6-1, 6-2.

Against Connecticut Meyer suffered the only singles loss as Voorman, Duprat, Berrett, Phiri, and Adewumi all had singles wins. Voorman and Tsang though were the only doubles victory for UMBC, as Connecticut took the point.

But finally, against Boston U, Voorman stumbled against Josh Friedman, who had to go three sets before a victory, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4, 10-8.
