There was a little glitch in the schedule on UMBC’s website, they had the opponent listed as St. Joseph’s and not St. Francis, but no difference, they won, and in fact, won every match they took part in, beating St. Francis, 7-0.
No singles match went past the first two sets. Chris Meyer beat Tita Mba (6-2, 6-0) in the first spot of the match. Number two man Fredi Voorman, and the fourth man Adam Duprat, each defeated their opponents, Danladi Robinson and Daniel Gonzalez, respectively (6-1, 6-0). Freshman Galthier Berret completely swept his competition in the three spot as he went (6-0, 6-0) over James Brennan Tsung. Finally, Joe Adewumi defeated Matin Grunin (6-0, 6-3) in the sixth spot.
In three doubles competitions the team only needed two victories to get the point, but won all three matches. Voorman and Allen Tsang teames up in the first position to beat Mba and Robinson, 8-4. Phiri and Logan Bricker beat Tsung and Gonzalez by the same score, while Adewimi and Shane Yap went into extra sets against Grunin and Alontanga, but got the 7-6 victory.
