Men’s Swimming and Diving Beat Both Delaware and William and Mary

Matt Mattingly, Zach Vonder Haar, and Fred Deal went out in style on Saturday, an emotional senior day for the three, as they beat Delaware (181.5-118.5) and William and Mary (183-114) in their final home meet at UMBC.
Mattingly and Vonder Haar both went out with golds in the meet. Mattingly won the 200 IM with a time of 1:54.52 while Vonder Haar won his first dual meet with a gold in the 100 back in 52.71.
Juniors Eric Jones and Brad Reitz both won two golds in the meet. Jones took gold in the 100 and 200 free in 47.01 and 1:41.63, respectively. Reitz took gold in the 200 fly and 200 IM in 1:53.13 and 51.38, respectively.
Freshman diver Andrew Eckhoff placed second in the men’s 1-meter dive with a score of 244.45.
The team has roughly a month off before taking part in the America East Championship meet, which they will try for their 17th straight league title, on February 25.
