Providence College To Join America East As Associate Volleyball Member

UMBC’s volleyball team will have another conference foe come the 2010 season. In a press release from the America East Conference, commissioner Patrick Nero announced that Providence College has joined the America East Conference as an associate member.

While Providence College plays all other sports in the Big East with exception to their men’s and women’s hockey teams which play in the Hockey East, the Friars volleyball team has been independent since 2003. This past season they finished 10-16 and are set to join the America East this coming fall. With their addition the America East Conference has seven volleyball teams which provides teams with 12 conference games, six home and six on the road.
